Winter Test Hot Shots
The return of Risi Competizione, the kick off of SRT Viper’s first full season of ALMS competition, new liveries and new driver line-ups were all part of the action of the annual American Le Mans Series winter test which concluded at Sebring today.
Muscle Milk Pickett Racing led the pack with its P1 class HPD – running times fastest than last year’s qualifying pace.
In the Prototype Challenge (PC) class, Kyle Marcelli turned in a late flyer aboard the No. 8 BAR 1 Motorsports ORECA FLM09 to take over Winter Test bragging rights from the No. 18 Performance Tech team. Marcelli’s quick lap was a 1:54.803 (117.279 mph).
The Ferraris were the ones to watch in GT with Risi topping the times on both days led by ALMS veteran Olivier Beretta (pictured above) – this was despite only receiving their car two days prior to the test. ESM were also fast but their day today turned sour when Johannes van Overbeek suffered impact with the tire wall in turn three – ending the day for the No.01 car.
