WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca introduced
On Sunday, WeatherTech had its first day as naming rights sponsor at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the historic Monterey, Calif. road course that has been open since 1957.
WeatherTech now has a three-pronged component to its sponsorship in IMSA. It is the title sponsor of the premier series, a car in the GT Daytona class with Scuderia Corsa, and now one of the series’ tracks.
It marks the next step for the Bolingbrook, Ill.-based manufacturer of automotive floor mats. This will be a five year deal, with a five year option. The new track’s logo was unveiled on Monday.
“I had a brief discussion with Gill Campbell about a year ago regarding our interest in the naming rights for Laguna Seca,” said David MacNeil, founder and CEO of WeatherTech. “We did our due diligence over the last month and we arrived at a mutually agreeable deal. We are proud to be a part of the future of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.”
IMSA’s Monterey Grand Prix weekend takes place Sept. 7-9, 2018. The track will also host Porsche’s Rennsport Reunion VI the last weekend in September, Sept. 27-30.
