Warm-up done – Time to race

June 29, 2014

watkins_glen_6_29_14aThe morning warm-up at Watkins Glen is run and done and now teams are preparing for the 11:15am race start for the Sahlens 6 hour at Watkins Glen.

In the GT Le Mans class, new dad Antonio Garcia topped the times for Corvette Racing. He and Jan Magnussen have been on a roll with back-to-back TUDOR Championship wins and qualified second yesterday.

Marc Goosens was second fastest aboard the newly re-branded Dodge Viper. Now wearing the same livery as seen during the Viper’s ALMS championship winning days in 1999 and 2000, the red and white V10-powered machines have turned heads all weekend at Watkins Glen.

In the prototype ranks Ryan Dalziel topped the times for Extreme Speed Motorsports aboard his HPD P2 machine. Alex Brundle set the pole yesterday in a P2 entry for Oak Racing highlighting the battle between the Daytona Prototypes and the Le Mans-style LMP2 entries.

Max Angelli was second fastest for Wayne Taylor Racing ahead of Chip Ganassi’s Memo Rojas.

Today’s Sahlens 6 Hours at the Glen goes green at 11:15am. The race can be seen live on Fox Sports 1 from 11:00am – flag to flag.
