Vipers within Striking Distance
The two SRT Vipers continue to close the gap on the GT front runners as the team prepares for the last race of the season with the #91 of Kuno Wittmer, Dominik Farnbacher and Ryan Hunter-Reay, and the #93 driven by Tommy Kendall, Marc Goossens and Jonathan Bomarito.
In only three starts the Vipers have notched up two top ten finishes. “We’ve closed the gap to our opponents from the first race to the last race,” points out German driver Dominik Farnbacher. Canadian teammate and co-driver Kuno Wittmer couldn’t agree more, “we’re now entering a phase where we can actually compete for positions.”
The best GT lap of this morning’s practice was 1:18.766 by Toni Vilander in the Extreme Speed Ferrari. In the same session Farnbacher clocked Viper’s best at 1:20.001. The cars are firing well, just a second shy off the leaders.
The drivers aren’t short on confidence and that makes for some exciting possibilities over 10-hours/1,000 miles.
