Vipers out to repeat ’13 pole

July 12, 2014

mosport_gal_2 03Canadian Tire Motorsport Park was the scene where the Viper started to strike last year in the American Le Mans Series.

bomaritoJonathan Bomarito scored the pole here last year and the team went on to win at Road America with Marc Goosens and Dominic Farnbacher.

Now the Vipers have “shed their skin” and returned to the famous livery from the turn of the century, the team is on a roll again.

After finishing 2-3 at Watkins Glen, the Bill Riley-led squad heads to Canada in a confident mood.

The top of the timesheet yesterday afternoon featured a battle of American iron – Corvette Racing were 1-3 – SRT Motorsports were 2-4 as the US brands did battle against Europes best – BMW, Ferrari and Porsche.

“Anytime you come off a good result it gives you extra confidence going into the next round,” Bomarito (pictured right) said.

“There are some similarities between Watkins Glen and Mosport, so we can take those and hopefully start with a very good car right away. Mosport is a very fast, challenging course that requires you to be very confident with the car.

“A slight imbalance of the car will make the driver very nervous because the corners are at such a high speed. The No. 93 Viper team scored our first pole position at Mosport last year, so we are excited to go back and fight for the win.

“We also recorded our first dual podium, which was an amazing accomplishment for the team and to share a podium with your teammates is very special. We all work very hard and help each other, so it was very rewarding.”
