UPDATE: the #910 Porsche 911 RSR qualifying times were disallowed due to a missing camera pod on the car. Jonathan Bomarito now takes over pole position in his #93 Dodge Viper SRT.

After topping all three practice sessions leading up to Friday afternoon’s qualifying session, the Porsche North America team continued to dominate when it came time to set the grid.

The #910 car driven by Patrick Pilet led the way registering a fastest lap time of 2:03.302 on his fifth and penultimate lap.

“It’s great. Honestly it was a last minute program. We’re coming here first to support the TUSC championship, I think Porsche is really involved in the championship so we wanted to come in and help set up the car. We’re right here since the beginning with a good setup on the car.

“It’s a completely new team, mixed with some people from Core. I’m really happy for my teammates as they are P3 and P4. It’s really close, it’s a good start,” shared Pilet after the qualifying session.

“Especially here, it’s a really high down force track, and with the new spec we have on the car it makes things a really good track for the Porsche. Especially the last sector, we know the Porsche has a good traction. It’s quite a good advantage we have.”

It wasn’t a total dominance however, as Jonathan Bomarito recorded a lap of 2:03.539 in his #93 Dodge Viper SRT on his fourth orbit of the 3.4 mile track to take his spot on the front row, breaking up what was a top three of Porsche 911 RSR GTLM cars.

Nick Tandy (#911 Porsche 911 RSR – 2:03.649) and Patrick Long (#912 Porsche 911 RSR – 2:03.900) will make up an all Porsche second row for the start of Saturday’s Lone Star Le Mans TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

The Championship leading #3 car of Antonio Garcia, qualified by Jan Magnussen, will be starting eighth in class.

The TUDOR Championship Lone Star Le Mans will go green on Saturday, September 20 at 11:35 am local time.

The race will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 2 with a rebroadcast on the Fox Network (check you local listings).
