One race ago Scott Tucker was sitting backwards facing ongoing traffic at a race start in Baltimore with nowhere to hide. The result crash forced the Level 5 Motorsports team to build a new car which won on debut here at Circuit of the Americas today.

corvette_carLevel 5 pulled off a 1-2 finish with Tucker taking the win with Ryan Briscoe and Guy Cosmo and Marino Franchitti joining forces to take second.

“It was kind of a come back race for us,” Tucker said.

“We came here testing a month ago and we thought that paid off. The team performed flawlessly, and perfect pit stops.

“The strategy went to plan which was a bit unexpected, but Ryan drove a perfect race. It wasn’t very dramatic for us, which was nice for once. We had some normal struggles like the traffic in the essess, but a great day overall.”

For the Briscoe, it was also a comeback event – his first win since breaking his wrist in an IndyCar accident in Toronto earlier this year.

“Scott did a great job on his stint. He gave me a great car. It ran so smoothly, I’m so proud of the whole team,” Briscoe said.

“I was testing early this month and everyone has done a great job preparing the car and giving us unbelievable race cars. Nice to get back to the top of the podium with Scott again.

“We have a band new car here, after the car in Baltimore became rubbish. So it was the normal liabilities with a new car, we wanted to take care of it but still maintain the pace.”
