Tréluyer now out of Mexico
After Toyota revealed yesterday Anthony Davidson would miss this weekend’s Mexico WEC event due to injury, now Audi has announced they will be a “man down” with Benoît Tréluyer missing this weekend’s race.
The Frenchman was sidelined at the WEC round at the Nürburgring following a bicycle accident and despite practicing aboard the Audi R18 yesterday – he’ll skip this weekend’s race to recover further in time for Circuit of The Americas in two weeks.
“In the race though, Benoît needs to be absolutely fit. In agreement with our team physician, we have decided to give Ben more time to recover and to build up his fitness again in order to be one hundred percent fit for the 6-hour race in Austin in two weeks’ time.” Head of Audi Motorsport, Dr Wolfgang Ullrich said.
Marcel Fässler and André Lotterer will share the no. 7 Audi R18 on Saturday, as they did previously at the Nürburgring.
The duo were second fastest in final practice this morning, just 0.118 of a second behind the No.1 Porsche.
Cars are back on track at 2:10pm this afternoon for qualifying.
