Eight -time Le Mans winner, Tom Kristensen showed that the new Audi e-tron quattro will be on the pace.
At the close of the four-hour morning session, the six factory cars were within one second.
Loic Duval set the top time with a 3:27.732 aboard the conventional Audi R18 Ultra. “Mr. Le Mans” was next as Tom Kristensen posted the second quickest time aboard the Audi e-tron hybrid.
Toyota came next with Sebastien Buemi. Benoit Treluyer and Marco Bonanomi slotted their Audis into fourth and fifth while Toyota’s Nicolas Lapierre closed out the top six almost exactly one second off the top-time.
In GTE-Pro class, it was Ferrari showing the early speed as Luxury Racing’s Frank Makowiecki shaded AF Corse Ferrari’s Giancarlo Fisichella for the top spot in the morning session. Aston Martin’s Stefan Mucke claimed third
The morning also proved successful for the Nissan DeltaWing. The experimental car ran trouble-free and Satoshi Motoyama posted a 3:47 lap, virtually matching the ACO target time for the special “56th” entry.
