The CORE steamroller continues

September 1, 2012

There seems to be no stopping CORE autosport in 2012 after the team today scored its sixth PC class season victory on the streets of Baltimore today.

Alex Popow and Ryan Dalziel led from flag to flag for their second street race victory of the season. The duo also took the victory at Long Beach earlier this year.

While the No.06 CORE machine dominated, the No.05 entry of team owner Jon Bennett and Colin Braun weren’t so lucky – suffering a gearbox actuator issue which put them out of the race.

“On the start, I knew I had to pass as many cars as I possibly could,” Popow said.

“There was no way to plan out how the race began and with what happened, it turned out well for me.  I can’t believe it but I’m certainly happy.

“I’ve got a 50 percent average for wins this season and it’s not just a great season for me but also for CORE autosport and the #06 team.

“Right now I’ve got a pretty good lead for the PC driver championship and while I’m happy about that, I feel for Colin and Jon and their tough day today.

“I hope I can clinch the championship at VIR – with the season-ending Petit Le Mans so long, I’d like to go into that race knowing I’ve got it, but Colin and Jon won’t make it easy.”

Second today was Bruno Junqueira and Tomy Drissi for RSR Racing while Duncan Ende and Henri Richard scored Dempsey Racing’s first PC class podium today aboard their No.25 entry.
