Thank you Baltimore

September 3, 2011

Baltimore is one amazing sports town.

The fans flock to cheer on the Orioles, root for the Ravens and they came out in their thousands today to cheer for the stars and cars of the American Le Mans Series.

Today’s first ever ALMS Baltimore Grand Prix was an incredible success with sold out grandstands, fans lining every yard of the course and a capacity crowd cheering every lap.

Dyson Racing’s No.20 car of Steven Kane and Humaid Al Masaood scored their ever ALMS victory – leading home teammates and championship leaders, Chris Dyson and Guy Smith.

The Dyson squad also won the prototype division of MICHELIN® Green X® Challenge – delivering the trophy to the Isobutanol-fueled Mazda for the first time.

Kyle Marcelli and Tomy Drissi took their second victory of the season together in the Intersport Racing No.37 LMPC entry. The duo have driven together four times this season for two wins, a second and third. Eric Lux and Elton Julian took second to push Lux to within one point of the LMPC championship lead.

Wolf Henzler and Bryan Sellars scored their second victory of the year in the GT class – like Marcelli and Drissi – also backing up their previous victory at Mid-Ohio for Porsche. The Derek Walker-led team also scored their first MICHELIN® Green X® Challenge win for the GT class.

GT Championship leaders Joey Hand and Dirk Mueller took second ahead of Oliver Gavin and Jan Magnussen.

Today’s exciting seventh round of the American Le Mans Series can be seen tomorrow on ABC at 4:00pm (eastern)
