The Daytona Prototype machines certainly had the edge at the Rolex 24 at Daytona but this week at Sebring the Le Mans-style P2 machines are set to make the challenge far tougher according to Jordan Taylor

Taylor finished second at the Rolex 24 with his brother Ricky, father Wayne and Max Angelelli. The two Jordan brothers will lead the Wayne Taylor Racing assault for the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and they have certainly started their championship strongly.

taylor_3_13_14While he has experience here at Sebring in the past with Corvette Racing in GT, taking a Daytona Prototype – now with a host of P2 cars snapping at their heels – to the historic Florida circuit will be a new challenge.

“This will be the tone for the rest of the year,” Taylor said.

“Daytona was a unique track where are cars certainly suited it but when you come to a track like Sebring or any of the other traditional road course you’d definitely put you’re money on LMP2. But they have given us the diffuser now at the rear and two dive planes on the front so we have a lot more downforce.

“As a driver it is something I still have to get used to. I haven’t really driven a proper prototype. Last year’s car didn’t have a lot of downforce – it was more like a big GT car.

“It is definitely a step up but hopefully it will be enough to really challenge with the P2 cars.”
