Tandy ready for first full US season

January 23, 2014

nick_tandyBritish ace Nick Tandy obviously made an impression with his winning performance at Petit Le Mans last year. When the line-up for the new Porsche North America factory team was locked in for 2014, Tandy’s name was certainly on the list.

porsche_TUDOR_2014He backed up that performance by topping the timesheets at the recent Roar before the 24 – not a bad start for the new CORE autosport run team which was making its debut as a factory entrant.

The 29-year-old Tandy is joined aboard the No.911 car with Austrian Richard Lietz. Frenchman Patrick Pilet joins them this weekend for the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

“I’m looking forward to it immensely. Daytona has always been one of my favorite race events of the year and now to start it off as part of the championship is great,” Tandy said.

“The season is going to be huge and that is why everybody at Porsche is really looking forward to it. For sure this is one of the strongest classes of GT racing in the world and the competition is always super close. There are a lot of good teams, lot of good cars plus great staff and drivers. It is that competition and closeness means that when you do have success it means so much.”

The tean’s No.912 entry will be piloted by American ace Patrick Long and Danish young star Michael Christensen. Porsche veteran Joerg Bergmeister joins them for the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
