Strong day for Rolex winners
After Oak Racing’s Le Mans-style prototype headed the times for most of the day, Rolex 24 at Daytona winners Action Express Racing leapt to the top of the timesheet in the afternoon session thanks to Sebastian Bourdais.
The Frenchman stopped the clocks at 1 minute, 52.480 seconds and topple Oak’s morning pacesetting time of 1:53.204.
Oak led Wayne Taylor Racing’s Corvette Daytona Prototype and Muscle Milk Pickett Racing’s Nissan-powered Oreca during the morning session.
The afternoon session top three featured Action Express, Oak and the Spirit of Daytona DP Corvette.
In what was a big day for Rolex 24 at Daytona winners, Porsche dominated both sessions with the No.912 fastest in the morning and the Rolex-winning No.911 quickest in the afternoon.
BMW was second fastest in the morning session to split the Porsches while SRT took the second spot in the afternoon.
Teams will get back on track tomorrow with two sessions from 9:30am to 12:00noon and 2:45pm to 5:00pm.
