SRT Viper guns Dominik Farnbacher and Kuno Wittmer look set to miss out on today’s race after a heavy crash for Farnbacher in practice yesterday.
While Farnbacher walked away unscathed, the team’s No.91 machine was not so fortunate, suffering heavy front end damage. The team were hoping for an improved performance this weekend in their third ALMS race after receiving a balance of performance adjustment this week including a 20 kg weight break and a larger air restrictor.
The crash spoiled the party in Baltimore for SRT who is sponsoring not only the ALMS weekend but the entire Grand Prix of Baltimore weekend.
“We went out on sticker tires and I had two laps to warm up the tires,” Farnbacher said.
“I was basically on a flyer. I was overtaking a GTC car on the right side going into the right turn. I took a little bit of a different line than before because I was overtaking the GTC car. I think on the inside there was one bump which upset the rear.
“I lost the rear and I counter steered. Then I lost it to the other side and the car went basically toward the wall. I could not save it anymore. Just sorry for my team.”
