Simon steals quick time
Peugeot star and reigning ALMS champion Simon Pagenaud spoiled the Audi party in night practice at Petit Le Mans by stealing the fastest lap of the night on the final lap.
Pagenaud recorded a time of 1:09.027 to push the time of Romain Dumas’ Audi back to second at the very end of the two hour session.
Of the local stars, Klaus Graf was the one to watch, although three seconds behind the dominant diesel cars. Graf set the 6th fastest time as the first petrol-powered machine at 1:12.278 for Muscle Milk Aston Martin Racing.
In LMP2, Former Indy Lights champ Jean-Karl Vernay again set the pace in the Oreca Nissan – outpacing Marino Franchitti for Level 5 Motorsports.
Three young guns were at the top of the timesheet in LMPC – Gunnar Jeannette leading Kyle Marcelli and Dane Cameron who has been added to the #36 Genoa Racing line-up.
Dirk Werner set the pace in GT for BMW while Toni Vilander again pushed the Risi car towards the front of the pack. Vilander and Jaime Melo will be joined in the Risi Ferrari this weekend by IndyCar racer Raphael Matos.
The cars will be back on track tomorrow morning from 10:15 am – 11:15 am before qualifying kicks off at 2.40pm
