Shoot-out looms at Road America
American Le Mans Series teams now face a last hour shoot-out at Road America when the yellow flag flew for two separate simultaneous crashes for Dyson Racing’s Humaid Al Masaood and Corvette Racing’s Tommy Milner.
Al Masaood ran off the road at Turn 11 while Milner spun exiting turn 13. The Corvette made it back to the pits but had to head back to the paddock for repairs.
The Dyson Mazda had returned to the track after a lengthy paddock visit to fix a water leak.
All teams will now have the chance to pit under yellow with great battles looming in LMP1 – Klaus Graf (Aston Martin) vs Guy Smith (Lola Mazda); LMPC – Elton Julian vs Butch Leiztzinger and GT – Jaime Melo (Ferrari) vs Dirk Mueller (BMW) vs Jan Magnussen (Corvette) vs Patrick Long (Porsche).
BMW’s Dirk Werner was on a different strategy – not pitting on the yellow having made his previous stop later than the pack in front of him.
