Sharpy back in a prototype at scene of success
Scott Sharp is back in Patrón colors aboard a prototype this weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the first time since claiming his ALMS championship title in 2009.
Sharp announced the formation of Extreme Speed Motorsport on that same weekend as he and David Brabham took the title for Highcroft Racing in 2009 (pictured right).
The second generation racer brought the car home to the finish line to add an ALMS crown to his IndyCar and Trans-Am championship trophy collection.
After three seasons aboard Ferraris at ESM, the team switched to P2 prototypes and reunited Sharp with Honda Performance Development.
The combination hit immediate success at Long Beach with Sharp and Guy Cosmo taking the win, Johannes van Overbeek and Ed Brown taking second and ESM scoring its first 1-2 finish.
Sharp talked to Michelin Alley yesterday about his team’s preparations this weekend…..
