Sebring: 9 Hour Update – Action Express by a lap

March 21, 2015

_RD47105With three hours to go, the 63rd running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring appeared to be Action Express Racing’s to loose.

With Sebastien Bourdais at the wheel, the Daytona Prototype squad and pushed out its lead to a complete lap over the Chip Ganassi Racing Ford-powered entry.

Wayne Taylor Racing held third spot – fighting back after suffering brake problems early in the race today.

Action Express and Chip Ganassi won Daytona and Sebring respectively in 2014. Now with Ganassi winning at the Rolex 24 this year – could Action Express be ready to do the swap and take the victory that Ganassi earned here in Sebring last year?

In the GTLM ranks Porsche’s pace here at Sebring began to shine through with the Porsche North America squad holding first and second place with three hours remaining.

Daytona 24 winner Jan Magnussen took over from Ryan Briscoe in third but was also holding off the Falken Porsche which sat in fourth position.

In what might be a true “Phoenix rising from the ashes” story, Ben Keating held the lead in the GT Daytona class with the Bleekemolen brothers.

Last year Keating’s Viper nearly burnt to the ground in a dramatic fire which caused an early extended safety car period. The Viper nameplate has certain run the gamut of emotions since – winning the GTLM TUDOR championship, withdrawing from GTLM competition and then winning the Rolex 24 at Daytona in the GT Daytona class.
