SALUTE TO “MO-SPORT”

Ok, please, as a special gift to the sport let’s get this sorted once and for all. This 2.459-mile circuit located on 750 acres near Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, about an hour east of Toronto, is celebrating its 50th anniversary season.

“Canada’s Home of Motorsport” has hosted F1, Indycars, stock cars, sports cars, endurance racing, motorcycles, motocross, showroom stock, historic vintage races, “Big Rig” trucks and go-karts.

Like Norm, Cliff, Carla, Fraser, and Sam Malone it has a name. In fact, it is the same name it has had without change since 1960.

That name is Mosport.  On that score, there is no confusion.

It is however the pronunciation of that name that we seek to clear up today as a service to our friends here at Mosport and racing fans everywhere.

To the locals, the regulars, and the people who work here, live here, race here often and attend the races here, there is no confusion.

The correct name is “Mo-sport” as in “motorsport.”  It is not Mossport.  It is not a garden center selling green materials that grow on damp rocks. So please remember, “Mo” not “Moss” and consider it your 50th anniversary gift to a track that pole winner Klaus Graf says “separates the men from the boys.”
