Rosenqvist tops second practice

July 15, 2017

Despite his session ending short after clobbering the wall and breaking his right rear wishbone during the session, Mahindra Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist still managed to top the timesheets in Formula E second practice.

The Swedish driver set a time of 1:02.423 in the session, cutting more than three seconds off of the fast time set by debutant Alex Lynn in the morning session at the New York City ePrix.

Like the first session, it was one team at the top with Rosenqvist’s Mahindra teammate Nick Heidfeld taking the second spot ahead of Renault e.Dam’s Nico Prost.

Sam Bird set the fourth fastest time of the session, followed by the Abt Shaeffler Audi Sport pair of Lucas Di Grassi and Daniel Abt. Di Grassi’s fifth place is one better than his position in the first practice session, important improvement on his quest to cut down the absent Sebastien Buemi’s point lead.

The leader of the first session, Alex Lynn, could only muster tenth for the DS Virgin Racing team with a time of 1:03.351. All 20 cars in the series went faster than Lynn’s morning session time as the Brooklyn street circuit rubbered in.
