Rosenqvist scores pole at the Montreal ePrix
Felix Rosenqvist put the Mahindra Racing machine on pole position for the final FIA Formula E race of the season, the Montreal ePrix.
Rosenqvist, though no longer in contention for the driver’s title, is in a battle for third in the championship with DS Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird. The three points for pole moves him within one of Bird’s total.
Bird will line up alongside Rosenqvist on the front row of the grid.
Jean-Eric Vergne, in Techeetah’s tenth Super Pole appearance in their debut season, starts third ahead of Rosenqvist’s Mahindra teammate Nick Heidfeld.
Championship points leader Lucas Di Grassi starts fifth. The Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport driver sports an 18 point lead over Renault e.Dam’s Sebastien Buemi after Buemi’s disqualification from fourth in Saturday’s race.
Buemi will start Sunday’s finale from 13th place. The Swiss driver qualified 14th after a major lock-up on his hot lap, however, will be promoted one place because of a penalty for his Renault e.Dams teammate, Nico Prost.
With points only paid to the top 10, and Di Grassi’s fifth place starting position, Buemi must work his way through the field all race long to have any chance of defending his championship.
The race will be shown live on Fox Sports 2 at 3:30 PM ET.
