Road Atlanta testing begins
Testing is underway at Road Atlanta this morning as teams begin preparations for the final round of the 2012 American Le Mans Series – Petit Le Mans presented by Mazda.
A total of 16 cars hit the track in the opening two hour session including the Nissan DeltaWing which is making its North American race debut next week at the 2.54 mile Road Atlanta circuit.
Other highlights today include the debut of Dario Franchitti for Level 5 Motorsports. This year’s Indy 500 champion is teaming up with his brother Marino for the first time in an endurance race.
The SRT Vipers also are returning to ALMS competition for the first time since the Baltimore Grand Prix. Both the No.91 and 93 machines were on track this morning with this year’s IndyCar champ Ryan Hunter-Reay joining the team’s driver roster this weekend.
Crack European squad AF Corse has also made the trip to Atlanta. The team’s GT-AM entry is taking part in today’s test.
