Road America thriller – the closest finish ever!
Muscle Milk Aston Martin Racing triumphed in the closest finish in the history of the American Le Mans Series with Klaus Graf holding off Dyson Racing’s Guy Smith at the finish by a mere 0.112 seconds.
Graf and teammate Lucas Luhr took their third consecutive ALMS win and inched five points closer to Smith and Chris Dyson’s championship lead.
The gap is 17 points with three races remaining.
Risi Competizione took the first victory for the Ferrari F458 Italia with Jaime Melo and Toni Vilander taking the GT win. Melo passed the BMW of Dirk Werner to take the victory while Vilander fought back from his stint after contact and spin with Oliver Gavin in turn 1 after a pit stop when the Finn was trying to close the driver’s door.
Level 5 Motorsport gave their Lola HPD a farewell race in the LMP2 class at Road America today. The Wisconsin-based team intends to return to action soon with a HPD engine and chassis combination.
Butch Leitzinger took victory on debut in the LMPC class in the PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports entry he shared with Rudy Junco. Eric Lux, Elton Julian and Christian Zugel took second ahead of Jon Bennett and Frankie Montecalvo.
