Risi Red Ferrari Ready
Risi Red Ferrari Ready
One of the most successful teams in American Le Mans series history, the Houston-based Risi Competizione Ferrari team is on a mission and that has the attention of the fans and GT competition here at Petit Le Mans.
After sitting out the 2012 ALMS season, the Giuseppe Risi led squad was poised for victory at the 2013 season opening 12 Hours of Sebring, only to be caught out by an unscheduled driver change in the closing stages.
The team struggled through a long and frustrating series of issues and errors at the next several events, but all came right earlier this month at Virginia International Raceway as veteran Olivier Beretta and newcomer Matteo Malucelli scored an impressive victory.
The momentum has carried over to Road Atlanta, as the glorious red #62 Risi Ferrari 458 Italia will start the 10 Hour/1000 mile race from the GT class pole.
Risi has a long history of big wins, with three victories here at Petit Le Mans, including the overall prototype victory at the inaugural event and GT wins in 2008 and 2009. The team also owns matched pairs of back-to-back victories at Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Now, the Risi Ferrari team is looking to close out the 2013 season, and the ALMS era, with another win at Petit Le Mans and a second consecutive ALMS victory.
