Risi paces morning warm-up
The pole-sitting Risi Competizione team turned the fastest time in the morning warm-up at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
The No. 62 Ferrari 488 GTE of Toni Vilander and Giancarlo Fisichella turned a 1:22.986 in the session, ahead of second place starter Dirk Mueller and Joey Hand in the No. 66 Ford GT.
Mueller’s time of 1:24.234 was more than 1.2 seconds slower than that of the Ferrari.
BMW’s No. 25 machine of Alexander Sims and Bill Auberlen slotted in third, ahead of Mueller and Hand’s teammates, Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe, in the No. 67 Ford.
The sister No. 24 BMW M6 GTLM rounded out the top five.
The green flag falls for the America’s tire 250 at 2:05 pm Pacific time. The two-hour, 40-minute race will be shown on FS1 and Fox Sports Go with authentication.
