Rise and shine for Long Beach race day!
Rise and shine for Long Beach race day!
Welcome to race day at the streets of Long Beach, for what will be a dramatically different race compared to the first two rounds of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
After back-to-back endurance races in Florida at 24 hours in Daytona and 12 in Sebring, today’s BUBBA burger Sports Car Grand Prix is just 100 minutes. The race airs live on FOX network, at 4 p.m. ET, 1 p.m. PT.
This means teams can attempt to make their one scheduled stop to change drivers and tires at various points in the race. You can try to run short in the first stint and long in the second, or vice versa.
Michelin’s full race preview is linked here and a qualifying report is linked here. Joey Hand scored the pole position in the GT Le Mans class, with a new track record in his No. 66 Ford GT for Ford Chip Ganassi Racing.
A quick hype video for the race from this weekend’s practice and qualifying sessions is below.
