Ready for kick off, first pitch, green flag

September 1, 2012

Baltimore is one great sports town with the American Le Mans Series paddock here situated right between the home of the Baltimore Orioles baseball team and the Baltimore Ravens football stadium.

The Orioles are just two games out the American League East division after shutting down the Yankees last night. Many of the ALMS teams took the chance to catch some baseball on Thursday afternoon when the local team beat the Chicago White Sox.

With football season about to kick off, the Ravens will seek to improve upon their 12–4 record from 2011, defend its AFC Northtitle and return to the playoffs for a fifth straight season.

Many Orioles and Ravens fans will hopefully become American Le Mans Series fans after this afternoon’s two hour battle through the streets of Baltimore.

In this morning’s warm-up, Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf led the way for Muscle Milk Pickett Racing.

Ryan Dalziel was impressive in the the CORE autosport PC car where he not only topped the timesheet for the class, but also out paced every P2 class prototype as well.

The GT battle looks set to be a classic this afternoon with Bill Auberlen leading the warm-up for BMW ahead of Corvette Racing’s Olly Gavin and Porsche’s Joerg Bergmeister.

Green flag for the Baltimore Sports Car Challenge presented by SRT race is on Saturday, September 1, at 4:30 p.m. (ET).  Full and live coverage starts at 4:15 p.m. ET on ESPN3, on Saturday afternoon.  ABC’s television coverage of the event begins at noon (ET) on Sunday, September 2.
