Ready for a new Rolex 24 next year?
Chip Ganassi Racing signed off on the end of an era at the Rolex 24 at Daytona by taking victory in the round-the-clock Florida classic.
Juan Pablo Montoya took the final stint to take the No.01 machine to victory land alongside Scott Pruett, Memo Rojas and IndyCar driver Charlie Kimball.
Montoya held off Wayne Taylor Racing’s Max Angelelli to take the win with last year’s winner Michael Shank Racing (AJ Allmendinger, Justin Wilson, Marcos Ambrose, John Pew and Ozz Negri) finished 55 seconds back in third.
The race was the final one to be run under the name of GRAND-AM.
For next year, the new combined sportscar series will combine the best of American Le Man Series with the GRAND-AM Rolex Series.
ALMS/Le Mans-style GT cars will be back in action at Daytona while Le Mans P2 machines will fight it out with the Daytona Prototypes for the overall victory.
