Rapid Ricardo & Risi’s Warm-up
Rapid Ricardo & Risi’s Warm-up
Ricardo Gonzalez showed the LMPC cars could be a force to be reckoned with in this weekend’s Baltimore Grand Prix after topping the timesheet in the morning warm-up.
In fact, with the possibility of severe weather looming over the area, it could even be the GT cars mixing it up at the front of the pack. Toni Vilander’s Risi Ferrari actually sat in first position in the warm-up right until the dying seconds of the session.
The traditionally fast LMP1 cars were actually third (Dyson/Smith), 13th (Burgess/McMurry) and 23rd (Al Masaood/Kane).
Throw in the prospect of weather and the expected severe circuit traffic – and this afternoon’s race will certainly be a recipe for excitement.
We’ll also have fast cars starting off the back of the pack. The Flying Lizard Porsche of Joerg Bergmeister and Patrick Long and the Risi Ferrari of Vilander and Jaime Melo were both sent to the back of the field as a penalty for an on-track clash in qualifying.
The Muscle Milk Aston Martin also is expected to start off the back after completing electrical repairs which sidelined them both yesterday and during this morning’s warm-up.
With parts flown in from Indianapolis and the UK overnight, the team have been working frantically to get back on track before their championship chances take a severe blow.
This afternoon’s seventh round of the American Le Mans Series kicks off at 3:30pm this afternoon and can be seen live on //www.espn3.com.
