Rain or Shine?
Rain or Shine?
Although it is sunny now at 11:00 a.m., local weather forecasters still see a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms for the 3:30 p.m. start of today’s Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge.
“If you know that you are looking at a wet race, there are certain adjustments that you can make like softening the suspension, adding a little more down force, even changing gearing, in addition to switching to wet tires,” said Karl Koenigstein, Michelin ALMS technical team leader.
“The toughest races are the in-betweens. If you leave a dry set up on the car and bolt on the wet tires, if needed, you are in good shape if the track dries or the rain never arrives. If you make changes anticipating a wet race and it stays dry, you are stuck, but if it rains and stays wet you can be a hero,” said Koenigstein.
