When the quick get quicker!
When the quick get quicker!
For Michael Shank Racing today was a case of the quick getting quicker – session by session, lap by lap at Road Atlanta.
The team’s Ligier Honda topped all three sessions today with Olivier Pla heading session one and three and Ozz Negri fastest in the afternoon session.
“I’m very happy with the performance today. I love this track, Road Atlanta, and the car has been great from the beginning,” Pla said.
“We just kept improving the car during each session. All of the changes we made were very positive so thank you to the team for that.
“I think it’s looking good for the race.”
Despite the final session being run at night, the No.60 car actually went quicker.
Pla set the fastest lap of the first session at 1:14.157. Negri topped that with a 1:13.923 in the afternoon before Pla recorded a 1:13.541 under night skies.
The fastest lap was actually set right at the end of the session. Pla set the time on lap 41 of the car’s 42 recorded laps.
The No.55 of Jonathan Bomarito was second fastest tonight ahead of Joao Barbosa’s Chevy Daytona Prototype.
Ford’s Dirk Mueller made it three different brands topping the GTLM times in the three sessions tonight.
After Antonio Garcia went fastest this morning following by Daniel Serra in the afternoon – Mueller put the Le Mans-winning Ford combo to the top at night.
The Scuderia Corsa Ferrari was again quick with Alesandro Pier Guidi second fastest ahead of Richard Westbrook.
Other class leaders included Stefan Coletti in PC and Marco Seefried’s Audi in GTD.
Teams are back on track tomorrow from 10:15am tomorrow before qualifying kicks off from 3:30pm.
