Pruett tops morning session

April 11, 2014

longbeach_gallery_practice_14_ 019Scott Pruett topped the timesheets in this morning’s sole practice session for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship with a late flier in the final seconds before the checkered flag.

As is traditional, the sportscars were the morning “street sweepers” with a 7:40am session. Rolex 24 at Daytona winner Joao Barbosa led much of the practice before the Ford Ecoboost entries of Oz Negri and subsequently Pruett jumped ahead in the final moments of the session.

Pruett stopped the clocks at 1:16.411 aboard his Sebring-winning Chip Ganassi Racing entry.

Daytona Prototypes dominated the session, filling the first five positions. Oak Racing’s Olivier Pla was the fastest P2 car – just under a second slower than the Pruett time.

Corvette and BMW were the two dominant marques in GTLM. Oliver Gavin was fastest for Covette Racing ahead of the BMW pairing of 2013 winner, Bill Auberlen and Dirk Mueller.

The teams now face a long wait until this afternoon’s practice session which kicks off at 5:05pm.
