Provisional 2019-’20 FIA WEC calendar released
The FIA World Endurance Championship has revealed its 2019-’20 provisional schedule.
FIA’s WEC is in a transitional season that spans 18 months in 2018 and 2019, and ends at next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. That event takes place June 15-16, 2019.
For the new FIA WEC season, Silverstone will serve as the kickoff event on September 1. Further rounds follow at Fuji, Shanghai and Bahrain, the latter of which returns to the calendar after a year’s hiatus.
Fuji’s round clashes with the 2019 Motul Petit Le Mans. Road Atlanta hosts that race October 9-12, 2019.
Two more events return to kick off 2020, with Sao Paulo and Sebring in February and March.
The championship’s crescendo will feature the traditional Spa race in May and 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Race lengths have been altered as well, with distances either of four, six or eight hours.
