While Patrick Long is renowned in North America as a key Porsche pilot in North America, for 2014 another Patrick is joining the party for the major endurance races – Frenchman Patrick Pilet.

Both the No.911 and No.912 Porsche machines have been incredibly fast at the Sebring test, following on from their success at Daytona where Pilet, Richard Lietz and Nick Tandy took the victory.

Pilet contested the FIA World Endurance Championship for Porsche last year and is expected to be a part of their line-up for 2014. He co-drive with Joerg Bergmeister all season and finished second at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The entire Porsche pack is in a confident frame of mind following on from their Daytona victory and Sebring pace.

“The car is pretty good and showing good pace at the moment. It is easier for us here because we’re better prepared than Daytona and everybody now knows everyone well,” Pilet said.

“The race will be tough but I think we have a good chance at the moment. At Daytona we ran with really low downforce but here we’re at the maximum. It will be different for other manufacturers as well – BMW should be strong here because they have good downforce on their car.

“We have a really good compromise on the Porsche. We can still be quick in a straight line like at Daytona but with the added rear wing we have good balance in the quick corners.

“We actually have a good car for the championship because the Porsche is strong at every type of track.”
