Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin
The fastest-growing single-make series in North America joins the American Le Mans Series this weekend at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin enters its second year with more entries and races.
The Porsche GT3 Cup car is among the most widely raced cars in North America and an excellent car for developing new drivers. Canada is the 20th country worldwide to host a Porsche GT3 Cup series.
The series splits the field into categories based on the model year of the Porsche GT3 Cup car. Cars built in 2010-2012 fall into the Platinum Cup, while the Gold Cup is for Porsches built from mid-2005 to 2009, and Silver Cup for Porsches built from 2002 to mid-2005.
Etienne Borgeat (#2 GT Racing) has won three of the five races in the Platinum Cup and holds a slight lead in the championship over Perry Bortolotti (#84 6th Gear Racing), the defending series champion. Bruce Gregory (#18 SpeedMerchants) has four Gold Cup wins to date and holds the championship lead over Robert Maranda and Shaun McKaigue.
