Porsche dominate warm-up at VIR
Porsche continue to dominate the action in the GTLM class at VIRginia International Raceway after finishing 1-2 in the warm-up this morning.
This morning it was the turn of Le Mans winner Earl Bamber to set the pace. The New Zealander recorded the fastest time of 1:43.439 – just ahead of his French teammate Patrick Pilet who recorded a 1:43.511.
Tommy Milner showed improve pace for Corvette this morning by recording the third fastest time. The result was a great fightback for the No.4 team after Olivier Gavin suffered a minor off track excursion and had to return to the pits to remove grass and dirt from the front of the Corvette.
BMW title contender Dirk Werner was fourth fastest ahead of the Porsche of Wolf Henzler and Antonio Garcia’s Corvette.
Surprisingly after setting the pace on Friday, Ferrari’s Pierre Kaffer was slowest of the GTLM pack.
Paul Miller Racing showed their pole position from yesterday in GTD was no fluke – Christopher Haase leading the warm-up in the Audi he is sharing with pole winner Dion von Moltke.
A trio of Porsches were second, third and fourth with Mario Farnbacher, Andy Lally and Leh Keen.
Fans here at VIRginia International Raceway will get the chance to get to meet their favorite driver from 10:30 at the autograph session before the teams gather for the green flag at 1:05pm.
