Popow oh wow – champion!
He has had four different co-drivers – all joining him in victory lane. CORE autosport’s Alex Popow is the 2012 ALMS PC drivers champion.
The Venezuelan ace has been super fast and incredibly consistent – finishing on the podium in every race in the 2012 championship.
Today’s third place finish with Tom Kimber-Smith was enough to clinch the driver’s title – holding off his team boss and teammates, Jon Bennet and Colin Braun.
CORE autosport has been the team to watch throughout 2012, now taking the driver’s and team’s championship but achieving the result one race earlier than what they did in 2011.
“It hasn’t sunk in. It was amazing, today we were running strong, we had troubles during the race, our steering wheel broke in half so it was eventful,” Popow said.
“The team did an awesome job as always. They have been the key to winning this team championship.
“I have to congratulate Jon and the job he has done putting together this group of professionals.”
