Today’s GT Daytona pole winners Paul Miller Racing may face a tough challenge tomorrow – chase their first victory of the year or keep an eye on the championship. Of course a win will take care of both.

The Audi duo of Dion von Moltke and Christopher Haase are winless this year but are only one point behind Christina Nielsen in the championship standings.

The team want to win – but they know a championship is also within reach. Nielsen’s Aston Martin spun off during qualifying but still put her car fifth on the grid.

Today was von Moltke’s third pole position of the year – backing up his qualifying performances from Detroit and Lime Rock Park.

“I think [all of my poles] have all added up to less than a tenth of a second,” von Moltke said.

“The last time we drove the track temp was over 10 degrees cooler and over 2 seconds faster for us. As a driver, and as you’re pushing; the predictor keeps going up and up, you feel man, I’m slow.

“We were just trying to hang on to the car, it was really greasy out there. The car was a really good package thanks to the Paul Miller Racing Team. It’s going to be a great battle tomorrow.

“We have a few races to go, and we want to win really bad. We go into each race weekend focusing on winning the event. The team will make a choice to fight for the win or go for championship points, but right now we’re really just focused on what we have to do for the win tomorrow.”

Patrick Lindsey was second fastest today aboard his Porsche with Ferrari driver Bill Sweedler in third.
