Plowman scores first P2 pole for Conquest
Pint-sized Brit Martin Plowman scored his and Conquest Racing’s first P2 class American Le Mans Series pole position at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Plowman held off the Level 5 Racing HPD machines to earn his and Conquest’s first pole in their first season of sportscar competition. A regular in IndyCar competition, the Indianapolis-based team made its ALMS debut this year at Sebring.
“This is the start of the weekend we were hoping for,” Plowman said.
To be P1 overall in the session is nice, but I don’t feel an ounce of contentment. There is still a lot of work to be done and I won’t rest or feel happy until we are finally standing on the top step on Sunday.”
The Brit will again team with David Heinemeier Hansson tomorrow – the duo now looking for their first series victory.
“We had a great car rolling off the truck and Mosport is simply a blast of a track,” Heinemeier Hansson said.
“I love being back at a place with fast flowing corners. We’ve been running slow tracks for a while now, so I appreciate the difference. It’s my first time here, but Mosport is pretty short, so it didn’t take us long at all to get up to speed.
“It’s great to see that the car already has the pace to be at the top of the charts overall. Now we just have to maintain that and be there at the end of the race.”
