Flying Lizard enters Petit Le Mans as the hunted rather than the hunters, and has the chance to lock up several championships. That would be no small feat for the Sonoma, Calif.-based team in the ALMS’s most competitive class.
In the driver’s championship and season-long MICHELIN® GREEN X® Challenge, the Lizards have a chance for their second straight titles in each. Joerg Bergmeister and Patrick Long have a 22-point gap on Gianmaria Bruni. Provided those two complete 70 percent of the race’s distance and finish no worse than 10th in class, they can take home the drivers’ crown. Flying Lizard Porsche also has a 26-point lead on Corvette Racing to win the season-long MICHELIN® GREEN X® Challenge.
Things are rather closer in the manufacturer’s and team’s championship, where Porsche and Flying Lizard lead BMW and Rahal Letterman 139-138 in both. The Lizards, as always, will be all in.
