Nissan to launch electric Le Mans challenger
Nissan is set to unveil their new Garage 56 entry for the Le Mans 24 Hour next Friday at Circuit de la Sarthe.
The Japanese manufacturer joined forces with DeltaWing Racing to shock the racing community last year but have now turned their attentions to “electrifying” Le Mans with a new “Garage 56” challenger.
The new car will be unveiled next Friday, June 21 at 10:30am in the Le Mans Village. With fans getting the chance to enter the innovative Nissan PlayStation GT Academy competition on site at Le Mans next week, one lucky virtual racer will get the unique opportunity to press the button that unveils the car for the first time.
Nissan plans to stage simultaneous launches – one for the fans in the village and another for the media in the Paddock where they will hear new details about the innovative new car from key team members.
The new Nissan project was initially announced in Japan in February this year by Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn at the opening of the new Nismo headquarters. Next Friday’s launch will also be streamed live on Nismo.TV as part of Nissan’s partnership with YouTube.
