Night Moves Made by Rebellion Racing
Rebellion Racing took the fight to Muscle Milk Pickett Racing when the British team topped the timesheets for the evening practice session at Road Atlanta. Their driver, Neel Jani, set fastest time with a 1.20.360.
The evening session kicked off at a frenetic pace with all teams taking to the track.
Drivers were mandated to lap the course a minimum of three times before retiring for the night.
Muscle Milk Racing held the top time behind their third driver Romain Dumas when he had completed his programme for the night.
The drying track did force one early retirement for the evening when the black 55 BMW Z4 GTE driven by Uwe Alzen went straight off the circuit at turn 12, hitting the tire barriers.
The crash red flagged the session until the car could be moved up the hill of turn twelve, and into pit entry.
Soon after the session went back to green, the Delta Wing car spun at the same section of track where the BMW had just been removed.
The amount of cars on track dwindled after the second spin of the night and soon, only the Toyota Powered Lola B12/60 Rebellion Racing car remained on track.
With nine minutes remaining in the session, no cars were on track.
With 3 minutes remaining, ISMA safety cars completed their evening reconnaissance laps.
The final order had Rebellion Racing leading P1, Ryan Broscoe and Level 5 leading P2, Wolf Henzler and Falken Tire leading GT.
PC had Oswaldo Negri set the pace. GTC was topped by JDX Racing’s Jan Heylen.
