Nielsen set for Le Mans with Ebimotors
Two-time IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT Daytona class champion Christina Nielsen will make her third start at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this June.
Nielsen will join the Ebimotors team in its No. 80 Porsche 911 RSR, racing in the GTE-Am class. Fabio Babini is the team’s first driver, and a Bronze-rated driver will be named later. The team will race with Michelin tires.
She has joined the Wright Motorsports Porsche GTD team in IMSA this year (right), but Le Mans will mark her first drive in the new GTE-specification Porsche. The new Porsche places the engine in front of the rear axle.
Ebimotors won the Michelin Le Mans Cup title last year with a Lamborghini. That secured the team an auto-invite for Le Mans in that class.
Nielsen has raced twice at Le Mans, both with Ferrari and both on Michelin tires. She’ll look to improve upon a best finish of sixth in class, achieved her first time in the race in 2016 with Formula Racing.
Her full-season IMSA co-driver, Patrick Long, looks set to race against her at Le Mans. Proton Competition lists Long in another Porsche 911 RSR in the same class.
