NBC Sports reveals Rolex 24 coverage plan
New IMSA television partner NBC Sports has revealed its coverage plan for the 2019 Rolex 24 at Daytona.
A mix of sports car broadcast veterans and a number of the network’s NASCAR and IndyCar broadcasters will cover the race in a broad variety of ways.
NBC will have both its traditional booth and pit lane reporters. Additionally, the network is bringing its “Peacock Pit Box” to IMSA for the first time.
Like a driving crew in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship opener, NBC will have shifts of different lineups.

Leigh Diffey, Calvin Fish and AJ Allmendinger are the three primary IMSA broadcasters in the booth. However, they’re only three of the 17 announcers on site.
Allmendinger and Townsend Bell will both call the race and drive it in at various stages. Allmendinger shares the No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 Evo for Meyer Shank Racing, while Bell co-drives the No. 12 AIM Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3.
NASCAR on NBC announcers including Rick Allen, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Steve Letarte, Krista Voda, Dave Burns, Marty Snider, Kelli Stavast, Parker Kligerman and Rutledge Wood all have various roles. NBCSports.com veteran NASCAR writer Nate Ryan will also be on site and integrated in with an Earnhardt Jr. interview recalling his 2001 Rolex 24 start.
Meanwhile veteran IndyCar broadcasters Bell, Paul Tracy, Brian Till, Jon Beekhuis and Kevin Lee all come over from the open-wheel world to this broadcast.
The full coverage breakdown is below, with the only section not covered the overnight 3 to 6 a.m. ET portion. NBC Sports Group’s full release is linked here.
Before the race itself, NBCSN will also have a one-hour preview show from 2 to 3 p.m. ET on Thursday, January 24. That leads straight into qualifying from 3 to 5 p.m. ET.
