Milner masters Le Mans for Corvette
He had big shoes to fill at Corvette with Johnny O’Connell having four Le Mans victories to his name, but Tommy Milner showed today there is another American star ready to fly the stars and stripes for Corvette Racing.
“For me being an American and driving for an American car company and an American icon, like Corvette is unbelievable,” Milner said.
“Certainly, they have a lot more attention just being Corvette Racing with all their success at Le Mans.
“So for me to be apart of that – especially with their 100 anniversary of Chevrolet and now the 10th year anniversary for the first win at Le Mans – is very special to me.
“This is my first year of Corvette Racing and this was the one race that stood out that I wanted to win, and here I am.”
Today’s victory with Olivier Beretta and Antonio Garcia certainly made up for Tommy’s first Le Mans back in 2005 – the young star was set to take over his ride after the opening stint only for the car to run out of gas and be stranded on circuit before the first hour was complete.
