Note 13 of 24: Familiar Faces in Different Places
American Le Mans Series fans will recognize plenty of names and faces in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, many hopefully atop the podium at the end of the race.
In addition to the “usual suspects” from Risi Competizione, Flying Lizard, RSR Jaguar, Corvette Racing, Drayson Racing, and Michael Lewis/Autocon, fans will find some drivers wearing different togs here at Le Mans.
Patron Highcroft ace Simon Pagenaud is aboard the #3 Peugeot teamed with Sebastien Bourdais and Pedro Lamy.
Marco Werner takes Pagenaud’s spot at Highcroft, alongside David Brabham and Marino Franchitti. Adrian Fernandez continues in the Gulf-liveried Lola Aston Martin.
Other familiar faces include Marco Andretti at Rebellion Racing and Dyson Mazda’s Guy Smith is aboard a second Rebellion Lola Coupe.
Former ALMS champs Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas will join Mike Rockefeller in the Audi Sport North America entry. Another championship combination sees Allan McNish, Dindo Capello and Tom (“Mr. Le Mans”) Kristensen in the lead Audi entry.
Scott Tucker and Christophe Bouchut share one of the two Kolles Audi R10 TDIs.
The prototypes are not the only place with some Le Mans shuffles. Porsche sends Flying Lizard’s Patrick Long to the IMSA Performance Matmut car and no, it is not an entry from the ALMS sanctioning arm.
Meanwhile, Wolf Henzler is aboard the Team Felbermayr-Proton GT2 Porsche. Darren Law joins Seth Neiman and Joerg Bergmeister in the Flying Lizard Porsche. Former ALMS GT2 champ Mika Salo is still in Ferrari colors, this time with AF Corse.
