Note 21 of 24: ALMS Fans Win

The 24 Hours of Le Mans race is underway, and American Le Mans Series fans have reason to smile and make plans for the next major endurance race of the 2010 season, Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta this fall.

In addition to being the season finale and championship deciding race for the ALMS classes, the new Intercontinental Cup Series includes this fall’s 10 Hour/1000-mile Petit Le Mans race on its schedule.  Peugeot and Audi have both signaled their intent to enter.  In addition, Porsche’s exciting new Porsche 911 GT3 Hybrid may also find its way to Braselton.

There is also good news from Le Mans for Sebring fans. The 12 Hours of Sebring is also listed on the provisional 2011 Intercontinental Cup Series schedule.

“We are overjoyed at this confirmation, as we hoped Sebring would be added to the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup,” ALMS President and CEO Scott Atherton told Radio Le Mans’ 24 Hours of Le Mans radio race coverage. “Now that both Sebring and Le Mans are included, besides Petit Le Mans, this is truly a global championship. To have seven events fit that profile is outstanding.”
