Michelin IMSA Insider: ‘Fast and Slow’ Excerpt
The latest edition of the Michelin IMSA Insider on Sportscar365.com is now live. This edition looks at qualifying and race lap records set so far through the opening three races of the IMSA season.
While records were not the immediate goal to begin 2019 as Michelin would be working with so many new automotive brands, teams and drivers, there has still been a high number of records set.
From the piece:
“We didn’t go into the IMSA season looking for records, and we certainly don’t expect records at every race,” said Ken Payne, technical director, motorsport, Michelin North America.
“We were, and are, far more focused on building relationships and experience with teams to develop consistency and optimize tire related vehicle performance. Our experience is that if we can help teams optimize tire performance, then lap times may eventually follow.”
