Michelin – History making
August 7, 2015
This may be a “historic” race for Michelin engineer Clayton Pojorlie, one of two Michelin engineers embedded with Corvette Racing in what is already a highly memorable season.
Corvette Racing has swept the veritable Triple Crown, taking 2015 GT category wins at the world’s three most prestigious endurance events: the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The “historic” moment is slightly less notable. Clayton expects to make the 15,000th Corvette MICHELIN® tire temperature reading on his trusty pyrometer sometime during the race weekend. And, yes, he has a record of every tire stick over the past several seasons. His fellow Michelin race tire engineers are considering a suitable recognition.
